NEW THIS SEASON

New Superpipe and Improved Terrain Park Features
Winter 2004-05 at Snowbird brings a new Superpipe to compliment the recently expanded terrain parks. Located on the Big Emma run next to the intermediate Big Emma Terrain Park, the new Superpipe is 340 feet long, 50 feet wide and has 18-foot walls. It is currently being built to enable an early opening. Other park and pipe upgrades include improved rails and boxes in the Baby Thunder Terrain Park and music to accompany the new Superpipe.

New ZipRider
Snowbird introduced a ZipRider to the activity lineup this past summer and it will be open for winter thrills too. Accessed by the Chickadee chairlift, the ZipRider flies suspended riders down a cable the length of the Chickadee run. The ZipRider will be open to adrenaline seekers selected nights of the week.

Snowbird University
A new addition to Snowbird Mountain School’s myriad offerings is Snowbird University. This innovative program encompasses snowboarding, telemark skiing, steeps and backcountry awareness. Choose a course for the morning sessions and then participate in electives each afternoon. Cap it all off with a commencement party and dinner, and walk away with graduate level skills. The camp runs Feb. 6-10, 2005.

Increased Snowmaking Capacity
Utah may be known for its great powder, but occasionally the “Greatest Snow on Earth” arrives late. Snowbird’s snowmaking department used the summer to expand the snowmaking capacity to cover Gad Valley from Hidden Peak to the base of the Gadzoom chair. Should Mother Nature be slow in the delivery of the white fluffy stuff, the addition of new snowmaking machines on the upper mountain will enable great skiing on the upper mountain earlier than ever.
