The White Book of Ski Areas begins its 29th year of publishing information on every ski area in the U.S. and most of those in Canada without the benefit of advertising to clutter up the pages. The first edition of The White Book rolled off the presses in 1976. Twenty-nine years later The White Book rolls out via a HTML format. The layout is exactly the same as the printed version, but a significant difference is that the Web printed book permits the reader a direct link to the ski resort.
Participating ski resorts are accessible on the Home Page and Cover Page where a click will bring you directly to that resort’s own home site. Or, when you access any page in The White Book with a logo on it; click on the logo and you'll be immediately transported to their Home Page. You may notice that some ski resorts have a Mountain Map and Logo and others do not. That is because there is a small financial cost to put in the four-color photos, logos, and Mountain Maps and connect the many URLs directly to each resort's Home Page. So If your favorite area does not have a four-color area map it was their decision not to include a map.
Use the navigation bar at the left side of the page to move back and forth between areas, states, regions in either the U.S. or Canada in a few seconds. If you wish, you may also print out the ski area page. At the top of each page is a small house icon that navigates you back to the Home Page.
A click on any of the Mountain Maps will enlarge the photo. A second click will restore it to its original size. Asterisks next to some ski areas indicate that the resort hasn't responded in four or more years, so we've noted their lack of response. Smaller areas generally do not respond every year and that's understandable as even their rates remain constant from year to year.
On the front cover is a Tom Stillo photo of Crested Butte, CO which is now under the ownership of the Mueller family that made Okemo, VT so viable. Telluride, which graces the back cover, is, of course, one of Colorado’s finest resorts. Top Photographer Fred McKinney has once again provided us with many of the photos. He also shows us some of his favorites in our SPOTLIGHT section on the Inter-Ski Home Page.
Have a fun ski season
